Coastal Quotes
"Roll on, deep and dark blue ocean, roll. Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain. Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore."
Lord Byron

Weymouth’s best beachfront location with panoramic views, secluded gardens accessing beach, heated pool.
Glenthorne is set in over an acre of gardens with spectacular views over Portland Harbour and Chesil Bank. There is direct access to a shelving, quiet, sandy beach adjacent to a ruined castle and tiny cafe. Panoramic views, beach proximity, swimming pool, trampoline, and other activities for children, combine to make guests feel we are a holiday destination in ourselves. However, town is a 5min drive or 10-15min stroll along the coastal path, with it's attractive, unspoilt fishing harbour and regency seafront. Equally close by in the opposite direction, find the wildness of Chesil and Fleet Lagoon and road to the dramatic island of Portland.
The house is a large Victorian villa, furnished and decorated in flamboyant period manner yet with all modern comforts, including flat screen TV’s/DVD’s, WIFI and power showers. Guests are welcome to relax with a drink, and browse guidebooks or magazines in our distinctive sitting room.
There are three comfortable apartments in the grounds, each with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room. They all inclusive, apart from a small bed linen charge and equipped with a washing machine, fridge, dishwasher, tv /dvd/wifi.
We are open all year round and the whole house may be available for large family group holidays, including Christmas and New Year.
As a family we try to make our guests feel as "at home" as possible from serving breakfast at times convenient to them, welcoming their dogs, offering babysitting, drinks, a library of DVD’s and videos, ferrying in the car, use of boats/wetsuits and arranging launching/storing facilities for their own boats.
Kevin and I are both artists so you may spot our work around the property, or see a larger selection for sale at the Gallery at Hotel Rembrandt on the Dorchester Road or browse out website www.weymouthartists.co.uk. The gardens are a great place to paint so bring your easels!
Take the A345 to Portland, half a mile from Wemouth Marina at the top of a hill take the left turning where signposted "Glenthorne", we are 500yds on the left.
